Things to do in Mauritius

Mauritius is a island located in the Indian Ocean, specifically known for its beaches, lagoons and reefs.

Beach Resorts - Paradise Cove

Mauritius is surrounded by beautiful beaches that relaxing at the hotel with the beach on your doorstep is just as incredible as exploring the island. Paradise Cove is one of my favourite places to visit as the water is crystal clear and you can see all the little fishes.

Snorkelling and Boat Trips

I always love to go on a boat trip around the island to see all the mountains and beautiful landscapes. The Indian Ocean is my favourite place to snorkel as the water is so warm and clear. There are so many amazing species underwater, the east of the island has been recommended as the best place to snorkel.

Flic En Flack Beach

This was a really fun beach to go with friends and play music. There were lots of little markets and food trucks on the beach so you did not have to travel far to get some snacks. It is the tropical oasis for swimming and watersports. There are also a few little markets, we all got to try on some Mauritian dresses.

Crystal Coral Rock

This is a natural rock formation which is large situated off the south-west coast.

Swimming with wild dolphins

I mean the sub heading says it all...You can swim with wild dolphins! This was an absolute DREAM COME TRUE! They are such beautiful creatures and it was a nice experience to see them all free and having fun making us chase them in the water. I managed to witness them jump around and had dozens of them swimming underneath me. They were so fast it was hard to keep up. No video or photos can ever replicate what I saw, it is something you have to fully experience in the moment.

The company I used was called Holy Spirit Cruise (they can be found on trip advisor) it was really cheap about £35 for the whole day. It included a speed boat around the island, swimming with dolphins, snorkelling around paradise cove, snorkelling around a ship wreck, swim around crystal coral rock and a BBQ feast on Crystal Island

Sunset Cruise

A sunset cruise is always a good idea. You can relax take your own food and drink, enjoying the views.

Port Louis Waterfront

There are so many nice restaurants and shops on the waterfront to visit. There is also a local market for food, spices, souvenirs and clothing.

Rochester Falls

This was the most incredible experience, the best place to submerse yourself in nature. This waterfall is very hidden we had to be dropped off in a field and walk through a muddy path to get to the woods. The best part about this not being a tourist area is that you have it all to yourself.

Just be careful and do not go if it has rained or is raining as it can be very dangerous.

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden

This is a really nice area to take a stroll and see the gardens, tortoises and deers.

Trou Aux Cerfs - Murr's Volcano

This is a dormant volcano it hasn't erupted in thousands of years however according to experts it could become active again.

Casela World of Adventures

This is a fun day out with so many activities to do such as a quad biking safari, zip lining, petting zoo, rollercoasters and many more.
