London Fashion Week SS18 - Intern (POP PR)
It's that time of year again where London Fashion Week arrives! Normally I go to the events as a guest with friends. However, this season I decided to become an intern and learn more about the behind-the-scenes of London Fashion Week.
I interned for London Fashion Week from Friday 15th September until Tuesday 19th September 2017. I was an Intern for POP PR who specialise in public relations, product placement and digital services for fashion, beauty, lifestyle and design industry leaders. They work with clients from the UK, Dubai, Italy, Mexico, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore and Italy.
LONDON FASHION WEEK SS18 SCHEDULE:
The main location for the fashion shows was held at Freemasons Hall in London.
Friday 15th September 2017:
DR PAM HOGG: She has styled with Giselle, Lady Gaga, Claudia Schiffer, Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry, Kelly Rowland and Taylor Swift. The magazines she has worked with are Vogue, Dazed, Love and Dragmag. Her collections have sold at Harrods, Bloomingdales and Harvey Nichols. She also designed the Brit Awards in 2016.

I was so excited as this was the hardest show to get in as everyone wanted a ticket. The guests included celebrities, influencers, press, bloggers, journalists from (Vogue, Elle, Love, Wonderland etc), buyers and invited guests from the designer. There was a strict seating plan which I had to help organise and seat guests. It was overwhelming as I was surrounded by the people I admire. One of my goals is to work with a fashion magazine so to be in the same room as those who wrote for Vogue and Elle magazine (which I read all the time) was AMAZING!
ONES TO WATCH: This included JI WON CHOI, NEO DESIGN, STARSICA and TRIINU PUNGITS. My job was to organise gift bags and seat the "Front Row" guests. After the show I went backstage and helped the press set up interviews and take photos of the designers and models.
MICHAELA FRANKOVA: She has worked with Sarah Harding, Nicole Scherzinger, Little Mix, Rita Ora and Naomi Isted. I helped seat guests and went backstage for the press meetings.
Saturday 16th September 2017:
APU JAN: Their collections have been featured in Vogue UK and Italia. I walked into the room and rehearsals had started. There was live music in the great hall and the models were practicing their walks down the runway. I had to seat celebrities and ambassadors for the show.
DANS LA VIE RIRA SUGAWARA: They have had great success in editorial and dressing upcoming celebrities such as Ray Blk and Sabrina Carpenter. I had to organise gift bags and seat guests. I was also backstage for rehearsals, fittings, press, hair and makeup.
MALAN BRETON: Also known as the internet’s favourite designer. Last week for New York Fashion Week he was the third most spoken about designer on the internet. He has been presented by New York, China, Taiwan, France and London retailers. His clients have included Ariana Grande, Kylie Minogue, Celine Dion, Scarlett Johansson and many more. He has been featured in the New York Times, Vogue, Elle, GQ, Glamour and more. He was by far my favourite designer of London Fashion Week.
ROCKY STAR: He has styled and designed for over 300 films, his client list includes Paris Hilton, Pussycat Dolls, Beyoncé and Priyanka Chopra.
INIFD-LST: A RANGEEN RIOT: This showcased designers from the India based Inter National Institute of Fashion Design.
Sunday 17th September 2017:
SEMIR X GREENCODE and NS GAIA: I had to organise gift bags, hand out press releases and credit sheets. I had to sit in the front row and reserve seats for the VIP's. When I was sitting front row one of the photographers started taking pictures of me, I was going to tell him that I work there but I thought I might as well have some fun with this and pretend for a second.
I was backstage sorting out models and press for most of the day.
Monday 18th September 2017:
Dumpty: Dumpty Studios collection can be viewed on Vogue for SS18. I was in charge of seating the guests and giving out press releases.
Tuesday 19th September 2017:
INIFD-LST: The New Rashtra: This showcased new designers from India. I had to reserve the seats for the celebrities and welcome them all.
INNOVATION X - PORTRAIT OF INDIA: This show celebrated India’s growing fashion industry.
I have had such an amazing experience working at London Fashion Week this season. My highlight was being in a room filled with people I aspire to be like. I was overwhelmed by being surrounded by press from VOGUE magazine and buyers from Harrods and Harvey Nichols. I have been able to learn about the behind-the-scenes of what goes into creating an amazing show.
I am so grateful for this opportunity I know this is just the beginning for me. Thank you to POP PR and Fashion Scout for giving me this opportunity, I hope to work with you again in the future.
