Things to do in Cotswolds

The Cotswolds really is quintessentially British!

This staycation was all about relaxing, exploring the little villages, going for long dog walks and eating out at all the countryside pubs.

Villages

Castle Combe

This is by far my favourite most traditional and beautiful village in England. A lot of movies were also filmed here such as War Horse, Stardust and The Wolfman.

A nice place to visit for a drink is The White Hart.

Bibury

There are two main attractions at Bibury. A lot of people go there to visit the beautiful honey-coloured 17th-century stone cottages in Arlington Row.

A great place to stay is The Swan Hotel, it is absolutely stunning with private gardens in the village of Bibury. There is a trout farm nearby with an outdoor cafe so you can enjoy the views as you have lunch.

Bourton on the Water

This is the most tourist area in the Cotswolds as there is a range of activities to do which is great for families. These include: Model Village, Motor Museum, Model Railway Exhibition and Birdland.

It is known as the little Venice in the Cotswolds with the waterside views. There are many pubs, cafes and ice cream shops by the waterside.

Stow on the Wold

If you are a Lord of the Rings fan then you will be happy to know that it was filmed here at the St Edwards Church. This village also includes ‘England’s Oldest Inn’ dating back to 947 called The Porch House, another great pub is The Bell at Stow.

Nailsworth

This is more of a local area with many little boutique shops and high end restaurants. The top restaurants are Williams - fish restaurant and The Olive Tree.

Tetbury

This is where all the roadshow auction tv shows are filmed as there are many auction shops around. Prince Charles visits a lot as the Prince's Trust shop is here.

The Highgrove House which is the private residence of THR The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall is also located in Tetbury.

Stroud

Stroud is famous for its Farmers Market every Saturday. It is defiantly a must for fresh food.

My favourite farmshop nearby is called The Jolly Nice, it is very unique shop in the middle of the field under tents, with a drive in for fresh burgers and fries.

A few countryside pubs nearby are:

The Bell at Sapperton

They do the best roast dinners which is an english tradition every Sunday.

The Crown Inn - Frampton Mansell

The Foston's Ash - The Polo Pub

Stirrup Cup - Bisley

Lavender Bakehouse and Coffee Shop

Felt Cafe
